About Us
We are located in West Lafayette, IN
Joyful Journey’s mission is to provide socially engaging opportunities that enhance quality of life, well-being, and independence for adults experiencing changes in mobility or cognition, while offering respite and support to their caregivers. The organization was established so that families would have another option when it comes to compassionate care for their loved one (‘FRIEND’). Joyful Journey is committed to providing meaningful days, filled with purpose for each Friend that comes to visit.
About Us
Joyful Journey is a community-based not-for-profit organization committed to providing compassionate and loving adult day service that preserves the dignity and well-being of everyone who visits & provides encouragement and support to every caregiver. We were established so that families would have another option when it comes to compassionate care for their loved one who is unable to stay home alone during the day. Our purpose is not to replace the role and responsibilities of the main caregiver. Rather, we strive to provide relief and respite to the main caregiver in their unique and important role while providing safe and purposeful days for our Friends.

Talk to us! We would love to discuss your particular situation. Each Friend goes through an assessment to make sure Joyful Journey is a good fit for everyone. We invite you to tour the house and see for yourself how we can be a daytime home away from home for your loved one and help you receive the support needed.
We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.
We do not have transportation but would like to help you find a community source that is suitable.
Our Staff understands the responsibility and nature of caring for your loved one. Compassion, care, and safety are our priorities. Although we are a non-medical, social adult day service provider, our Staff is trained in First Aid, CPR, AED, and best care techniques for those who need specialized attention. Our Friend/Staff ratio is 4-5 to 1.
Volunteers who visit with us regularly receive necessary training to help make their time at Joyful Journey meaningful for all.
While keeping in mind the safety and security of your loved one, our Staff and Volunteers will engage with Friends in appropriate and meaningful activities. You may find us working on a puzzle or playing a number of group games like bingo, corn hole, floor basketball, air hockey, or ping pong. Friends can relax in their favorite chair, read a good book, enjoy the outdoors on our patio, listen to music, or settle in at a craft table. During every visit, Friends will experience joy in their day and discover purpose in their life at whatever level they are able.
Lunchtime is a highlight of each day. From 11:30 to 12:30, we gather together around a welcoming table set with linens, china and silverware—just like visiting a friend’s or family member’s home—and enjoy a delicious and nutritious hot meal. All food is prepared by a chef at University Place, just down the road from us and kept hot in our kitchen until service. Everyone looks forward to the fresh baked bread, homemade desserts, fresh fruits and vegetables, and delicious entrées.
Morning and afternoon snacks are also provided.
We recognize that some Friends will need assistance with some tasks. If they need assistance in the restroom, we can help. If they are in need of help at meal time, we can do that, too. If your loved one needs medication while at our house, we are able to safely store medicine and dispense it at the proper time. Friends do need to be able to swallow or make injections without assistance. Joyful Journey also has available an ADA-compliant, wheel-in shower where we can provide scheduled bathing assistance. Please talk to us about any specific assistance your loved one may need.
